Little Red Time Machine

The second I saw it, I knew I had to have it.

Hidden in the middle of a pile of battered and beaten contemporary music books in a dusty Goodwill drawer, it called to me as I sifted through the offerings.

One glance was all it took for this little red gem to do its work. Instantly, I was transported back to the magical age of seven and my very first piano lesson. I remember being almost overwhelmed with awe and excitement as my trembling little girl fingers opened my very first music book much like this one. Finally, I was going to gain my heart's desire: to learn to play piano. Thirty-some years later, I am still traveling with joy along the path begun that day.

A buried memory unexpectedly rejuvenated by a buried treasure.

Thanks, Goodwill.

I love the contrast of the grand(baby?) piano against the log walls. Does justice to both of them. I remember those books, too. I went through several of them, but not enough to be proficient at the keyboard. May I ask what the brand of your piano is? I had a lovely Baldwin Acrasonic (sp) that was soooo mellow. I finally got tired of dusting it and sold it to someone that I hope will actually play it as it should be!

Thank you Sissy! My piano is a Carl Ebel and it is a 5' baby grand. It has a soft touch with very lightly weighted keys. I used to have a Baldwin that I adored...it had a velvet touch too. It did burn up in a house fire so I had to replace it. Bless you!

My daughter learned to play from that book. How fun to see an older copy.

There are a few floating around out there. They bring back a lot of memories, don't they?
